Why Moms Should Get Out and Play
I live in Virginia Beach, VA where it rarely snows. When the weatherman usually calls for snow we usually get sleet instead or maybe a dusting. The last time we had a snow fall over an inch or two was in 1989 and prior to that was 1980. We really don't get enough snow to make a snowman or have a snowball fight very often, but this weekend we did get a great snow.
We had about 9 inches fall and we have been enjoying the white stuff ever since. It is white everywhere you look. The first day the kids went out to play in the snow and I took pictures. I enjoy capturing them having fun, being in the snow and getting a snapshot of our life.
But yesterday we found the only hill nearby and took the boys sledding. At first I was the photographer and took 450 pictures of my kids, husband, one of my brothers and two of my nieces.
After everyone had been sledding for an hour I decided to give it a try. Well it was so much fun. I was laughing and had a blast so I went a few more times.
We moved from a small hill with a smooth spot to another spot that the people before us made a little ramp to sled over. Well I went over it sitting on the sled and ended up with my back side and legs in the air. I landed back on the sled but definitely took a hard landing on my back when I did. It was great and the picture will be a classic from that day forever.
We are going to take the boys sledding again today and I will be the first in line to head down the mountain.
My advice to all you moms- play with your kids instead of just watching them play. You will be amazed at how much fun it is and how much more fun you have with your kids.
By getting into the activity and playing with your kids you are also showing your kids you care, that they are important, and you do have fun with them.
