Great Skin Begins With Good Nutrition
If you want good looking skin, you have to eat healthy foods. There is that old adage "you are what you eat" and it's absolutely true. Our skin's cells are constantly turning over, making new cells to replace those dead cells that we try to slough off with face scrubs and masks.
The new cells of our skin need plenty of vitamins, minerals and good hydration. You need to drink plenty of water during the day to stay truly hydrated. It's easy to just get busy and forget to drink water, but water is essential for good skin. Fresh fruit and vegetables are also important for our skin and at least five servings of these vitamin-filled foods should be included every day.
Vitamin A, which helps to prevent ageing, is found in spinach, broccoli, carrots , melons and sweet potatoes. Vitamin C helps fight inflammation and is good for cell repair. It is found in citrus fruits, strawberries, peppers and all the leafy greens. Vitamin E is a great antioxidant that protects our skin from the environment. It is plentiful in whole grains and nuts and also in the leafy greens.
One of the most important minerals for your skin is zinc, which can be found in dairy, fish, beans and nuts. Of course there are many trace minerals that you will benefit from also if you eat a good and healthy diet. Remember to alternate foods so that your body gets the most benefit from a variety of vitamins and minerals and you will also have beautiful skin.
