One Kind Word

The Power of One- You and You Alone Can Change the World

Amidst the piling up laundry, the stacks of papers I need to sort through, or my constantly growing to-do list for my business, home life and social happenings, I feel the pull to make a difference in others' lives.

The thing is- I think we let the busyness of our days, the chaos of our home lives or work lives grab a hold of us blur our vision.

We begin focusing on all the things we cannot get done, the things we still have to get done, the set backs we have had, instead of looking at the successes we have had (no matter how small they may seem), the important work we have accomplished, and the blessings we have in our lives.

Many of us take the blessings we have for granted and we forget about those small successes or moments of love or kindness we share with others.

One Kind Word Can Make a Difference

We live in a world where there is Good and Evil. There is hardship and there is prosperity. It is a place where some of us are hopeful and others have lost hope. Many of us have jobs, while others have lost theirs.

Turn on the television and what is portrayed? War, Murder, Abuse, Scandal, a Global Economic Crisis. Yet, when I walk down the street or go into a store, I do not feel that dark cloud hanging over me. I feel energized by the people I see that smile and say Hello, I feel energized by the kind compliment of a passerby. I see the best in our community, not the hopeless dispair I see when I watch the news.

We want to bring you stories of Hope. Stories about a Word, a Choice or an Action that have made a difference to someone or to many people.

Family Tries to Sell Everything They Own to Pay Medical Bills

I heard about this story on the news this evening. A family with 3 children has $20,000 in medical bills due to a child with a rare form of arthritis and another with Autism.

The family posted everything they own in their house up for sale on eBay hoping they can sell everything to pay off the medical bills they owe.

The site has gotten more than a million hits and people do not want to buy the items but many have donated money to the family. The family has now be gifted more than $10,000 from individuals who wanted to help them in their time of need.
I saw this story on my local evening news and it originally aired in Atlanta.

I think it is wonderful that people around the world are willing to part with a dollar or a hundred dollars to help a family in need.
Can you imagine if we all helped our neighbors in need what a different place this world would be?
